Forward Physics in ALICE 3

Europe/Zurich
Description

This workshop is financed by the ExtreMe Matter Institute EMMI of the GSI Helmholtz Centre for Heavy Ion Research.

The EMMI workshop Forward Physics in ALICE 3 will be hosted by the Physics Institute of Heidelberg University.

Date:

  • Workshop: Wednesday, October 18 - Friday, October 20, 2023.

This workshop focuses on the prospects  of very forward measurements in pp, pA and AA-collisions by taking into account the experimental considerations of the beam optics parameters in these different collision systems.

Scientific topics:

• Proton-proton elastic and inelastic scattering
• Single and double diffractive proton dissociaton
• Exclusive production of dileptons, $W^{+}W^{-}$ and $t\bar{t}$-pairs in pp-collsions
• Exclusive production of dileptons and $c\bar{c}$-pairs in pA-collisions
• Diffractive bremsstrahlung
• Soft photon production
• Gamma-proton cross section
• Vector meson photoproduction
• Gluon saturation in heavy-ion collisions
