Description

The ALICE data-taking concept for the LHC Run 3 and Run 4 allows the collection of minimum bias collisions in a continuous readout mode, their subsequent asynchronous reconstruction, and the final offline selection of events for permanent storage. This design enables the implementation of dedicated event selection schemes, tailored for a given observable, and avoids the need for dedicated hardware triggers, which in many cases would be difficult to develop. The poster will discuss the strategy for selection events with high transverse momentum ($p_{\rm T}$) charged-particle jets. The offline jet trigger searches for the presence of a large radius ($R=0.6$) anti-$k_{\rm T}$ jet, unconstrained in pseudorapidity, with transverse momentum greater than a given $p_{\rm T}$ threshold. Such design provides unbiased inclusive $p_{\rm T}$ spectra of charged-particle anti-$k_{\rm T}$ jets with radii less or equal to $R$ and of inclusive tracks above the chosen $p_{\rm T}$ threshold.
