Description
Since the first workshop, held September 2008 at CERN, the Nobel prize was given for the prediction of having "at least three families of quarks in nature", but we also experienced the difficulty in start up of the LHC. This second workshop continues the quest on whether there are new fermions beyond the observed 3 generations, and on how to identify the first signatures, be it indirect or direct. With the new cautious run plan of the LHC, it is also evident that we are still at the crossroads between the Tevatron and the LHC, and may remain so for the next year or two. The workshop will focus on work that has come out since the first workshop, while covering some topics that may have been left out previously. The aim is to bring together theorists and experimentalists with active interests in the 4th generation, or any kind of new fermions beyond the existing ones, with emphasis on more relevance for the early phase of the LHC.
The workshop will start in the morning of Thursday, January 14, and run till noon, January 16. There will be no registration fee, although a banquet will be held up Taipei 101 on January 15th for speakers, which are by invitation only. Participants should complete their own hotel booking. Other tips, such as transportation, are also given at the left hand bars.
Transport from NTU to banquet (Taipei 101) is provided.
Transport back from banquet is left to participants' own arrangement.
Public transportation (the metro) is very convenient, or the easy solution is to band together and take a taxi (guide sheet for taxi driver will be provided).
