Slovenia@Cern
SLOVENIA@CERN
We are happy to announce the incoming business delegation of more than 40 Slovenian entrepreneurs, who will gather in Geneva to create an exciting event, titled as “Slovene Industry Day in CERN”, on 9th and 10th October 2019, as a part of Slovenia@CERN. These entrepreneurs represent 25 companies, some already being CERN suppliers, others have ambition and interest to become one.
Slovenia@CERN is a synonym for promotional activities, organized by the Ministry of Education,Science and Sport or the Republic of Slovenia (MIZŠ), Public Agency for Entrepreneurship, Internationalization, Foreign Investment and Technology (SPIRIT Slovenia) and Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia (GZS), in order to support Slovenian companies in their export efforts. Thus, the main focus of Slovenian Industry Day in CERN is to enlarge cooperation between Slovenian companies and CERN, as well as connect partners in CERN R&D activities into creation of innovative solutions.
The branch structure of participants is diverse - civil engineering, building and technical services, electrical engineering and magnets, electronics and radio frequency, information technology, mechanical engineering and raw materials, vacuum and low temperature, health, safety and environment. Some of them offer office services on CERN site as well as office supply, furniture, communication and training.
During two-day event, Slovenian companies will have the opportunity to introduce their offers and solutions to CERN representatives, to learn how to do business with CERN and to participate in business-to-customer meetings with relevant CERN technical staff members. At the same time, this promotional visit will raise the awareness of the Slovenian companies’ offers and skills within CERN. CERN’s procurement and technical departments, which are directly involved in identifyingand selecting suppliers from CERN’s member countries, will be involved in meetings with Slovenian companies.
Slovenia as an Associate member in the pre-stage to membership at CERN contributes annually not less than 1 MCHF for funding CERN activities. This membership fee, which will significantly increase with the full membership, allows Slovenian researchers to be involved in the experiments in CERN but also offers Slovenian companies the possibility to bid for tenders for supply and service contracts (including R&D collaborations). Since the first Slovenia@CERN event, organised by the MIZŠ and GZS in 2017, industrial return slightly improved. But there is still much room for improvement for high-tech companies and others, to find their business opportunities.
You are kindly invited to participate at Slovenia@CERN and meet Slovenian entrepreneurs.
