International Review of the Crab Cavity Performance for HiLumi
HL-LHC is in the final stage of design and prototyping: all technologies for the hardware upgrade must be proven by 2017. A key element of HL-LHC is the first use of Crab Cavities (CC) in a hadronic machine, to compensate the loss of Luminosity due to the crossing angle. An important milestone of the SRF Crab Cavity System is the preparation of a complete system for beam test, in 2018, in the SPS.
This review covers the technical design, the performance and readiness of the Crab Cavity System for the SPS and the HL-LHC. Previous reviews addressed the choice of cavity design and the designs of He vessels and cryoassemblies.
โThe review is scheduled on three days from Monday 3 April to Wednesday 5 April 2017. Following the close-out by the review chair on Wednesday afternoon, the committee is required to compile a short report with findings, comments and recommendations within one month. The report will be delivered to G. Apollinari, LARP Director, and to L. Rossi, HL-LHC Project Leader.
The members of the International Review Panel are: Dr. Akira Yamamoto (CERN & KEK, Chair), Dr. Mark Champion (ORNL), Dr. Mike Kelly (ANL), Dr. Robert Laxdal (TRIUMF), Dr. Guillaume Olry (IN2P3), Dr. Carlo Pagani (INFN), Dr. Waldemar Singer (DESY).
Leonardo Ristori & Alessandro Ratti (LARP) and Rama Calaga & Ofelia Capatina (CERN) are the link persons for this review.
