14:00 the TOTEM GEM tracker readout

The TOTEM Collaboration is constructing a GEM-based reference tracker to be located permanently at CERN-SPS H8 beamline. Its software layer is relying on a new DAQ system (interfaced to EUDAQ2) for the SRS-APV25 readout electronics. This talk will report the status of its development and aims at requesting feedback on any missing parts.

09:00 Self-calibrated drift velocity in a GEM-based TPC system

Recently a TPC system has been constructed with double GEM readout for beam monitoring purposes in high-Z mixed nuclear beam. If applied in a "twin" or "tandem" configuration, then the off-time background can be drastically reduced. However, if the detectors are placed such that the drift velocities are perpedicular, then the system drift-velocity calibration becomes possible online without external timing or trigger.
