3rd Joint HiLumi LHC-LARP Annual Meeting

Description
Dear HiLumi LHC and LARP collaborators,

While the LHC is under heavy consolidation in order to restart collisions for physics in 2015 at 13 TeV, the CERN Council, in the special meeting of 29-30 May 2013 in Brussels, approved the new European Strategy for HEP, with the High Luminosity LHC as first priority for CERN and Europe.

This great achievement was also made possible thanks to the FP7 HiLumi Design Study, which sees participation of European, Japanese and USA (LARP) Laboratories and Universities. The integration of the HL-LHC into the CERN Medium Term Programme 2014-18 has been consequently approved by the CERN Council of 27 June 2013, sending a clear signal to the community regarding the priority of HL-LHC in the CERN programme.

Following the 2nd HiLumi LHC Collaboration Meeting, held at INFN Frascati from 14 to 16 November 2012, and the LARP Collaboration Meeting 19 held in Napa Valley from 8 to 11 April 2013, we are pleased to announce the 3rd HiLumi Collaboration Meeting jointly organised with LARP, at Daresbury Laboratory, in the UK, from 11 to 15 November 2013.

To mark the approval of the project, a special event called the HL-LHC Project Kick-off will be organized on the afternoon of Monday 11 November, with the participation of directors of the major stakeholders of the project.

The meeting will continue with the traditional format of plenary and work package parallel sessions, to review the progress in design and R&D of the FP7 HiLumi work packages, as well as other work packages. The main scope will be to provide a solid ground for the preparation of the High Luminosity LHC Conceptual Design Report, a key deliverable of the Design Study, due in the first part of 2014.

This Annual Meeting foresees a common banquet and will host the 3rd Collaboration Board meeting.

Participation is by invitation only and registration is mandatory and without fee.
