Description

The new DRD1 Collaboration will be devoted to gaseous detector technologies, such as MPGD, RPC, TPC, and large drift chambers, wire, and straw tube chambers. The addressed field of applications ranges from future accelerator and non-accelerator-based particle physics experiments, nuclear and neutrino physics, Dark matter, and rare decays to medical, industrial, and civil security applications.

The collaborative structure of DRD1 would allow:

  • to promote and facilitate joined efforts along common goals defined by the ECFA Detector R&D Roadmap document
  • the development of common tools (e.g. detector physics simulation software, electronics)
  • to help in the education and training, for cross-fertilization among different technologies, communities and disciplines.
  • to promote the visibility and prospects of young researchers in detector technologies.
  • to access, being anchored at CERN, facilities and infrastructures for detector developments (such as workshops and laboratories) and characterization (such as test beams and irradiation source).

Following the approval of the DRD1 Collaboration by the CERN Research Board on December 6, 2023, you are cordially invited to the first Collaboration Meeting

The meeting promises a platform for various activities, allowing us to:

  • Engage in discussions about the organization and management of the collaboration.
  • Initiate Working Groups meetings and activities.
  • Present the current status of Work Packages and start the corresponding activities.

The collaboration website (https://drd1.web.cern.ch/) offers easy access to the proposal and details about DRD1 activities. Should you wish to connect with specific Working Groups or Work Packages ahead of the meeting, you'll find current contacts readily available on the website.

We are looking forward to embarking on the DRD1 activities together. Your active participation is key to the success of our collaboration, and we encourage you to contribute your valuable insights during the meeting.

Registration is not mandatory. If needed, a CERN visitor pass can be requested by completing the registration form.

Anna, Eraldo, Leszek, Maxim and Piotr
